About

An empirical motoring inquiry into the evolution of vehicle character, 1970 to 2024.

About Me

My name is Mikita Liohki, but pretty much everyone calls me Nikita. The reason is a long story, so I'll just leave it at that.

I am an undergraduate student at New College of Florida.

You can find my work on GitHub at nikiwalkor83.

I've always been really into cars — how they look, sound, and just the personality they have. I've always felt like older cars had something that a lot of newer cars don't.

So for this project, I wanted to take that feeling and actually see if the data backs it up.

Where did car character go?

About the Project

Car Character is an empirical investigation exploring how passenger vehicles evolved across six decades, from 1970 to 2024. By analyzing historical shifts across automotive color palettes, silhouette proportions, powertrain and acoustic architectures, and global engineering specifications, the project explores whether the perceived loss of distinctive vehicle personality is reflected in measurable data.

This project was created using R, Quarto, and the tidyverse as part of a course based on Preceptor’s Primer for Bayesian Data Science.
